Welcomes Phyllis Light
Phyllis D. Light, RH, MA, is an herbalist and healer with almost 30 years of clinical experience. She is traditionally trained in Appalachian Folk Medicine and began her studies with her Cherokee/Creek grandmother, and later with Tommie Bass, in the deep woods of North Alabama. Phyllis is the director of the Appalachian Center for Herbal Studies in Arab, AL, which offers herbal and natural health classes and a practitioner program for herbalists/healers. She also maintains a private practice and teaches at symposium, clinics and herb schools around the country.
Phyllis is a member of the Cherokee Tribe of Northeast Alabama, on the board of directors of Herbs for Orphans in Haiti, involved in the Common Ground Clinic in New Orleans, and is a consultant for the Alabama Medicinal Plant Growers Association. She also teaches classes on Energy work, Shamanic techniques and the Ethnobotany of the South and Southern Appalachia. Phyllis interest in the paranormal began in childhood with stories from her grandparents and experiences with them. She later studied with a group led by the late Mike Thomas (connected with Hartselle group) and Paul Duren (Cayce trance-type healer), both located in Arab..
